What are “name alerts” used for?

It may happen that someone files a lawsuit against you without you knowing. For example, a divorce, a commercial lawsuit or a civil lawsuit for damages. If you have advance notice of such a lawsuit before you receive formal notice from the court, you can gain valuable time to prepare your defense.

It also happens from time to time that there is a lawsuit against you and the other party, along with corrupt court personnel, can simulate notification or summons. In this case, you may lose the case without ever having knowledge of the matter.

Buholegal's “alert by name” tool is like a legal insurance policy. And best of all, you can create two alerts per name in the states you select for free. To create a “name alert,” the first step is to create your free account. Here: www.buholegal.com/registrar. Likewise, if you have a premium account, in addition to alerts by name of natural persons in the different States, you can register alerts by name of legal entities at the national level. You can see the premium accounts available at the following link: www.buholegal.com/premium

How do “name alerts” work?

“Name alerts” can be created for legal entities globally (including all states) with a premium account or for individuals within a state with their free account (the number of name alerts allowed depends on your account type ). Every night, Buholegal will search through all the actions of the States in which you have alerts (common jurisdiction and district courts) to see if there is an incident with the “name”. If we find a new case or file in which your “name” appears as an actor, defendant or complainant, the system will send you an email. When detecting a new case, the Buholegal system adds the file as a new “alert per file”. The free account can monitor up to five different files.

The “name alert” does not investigate historical data. It will only notify you if your name appears in a lawsuit in the future, from the time the alert is created. If you need to know if your name appears in historical legal proceedings, you can search for the parties in a lawsuit at the national or state level.

If your account does not have enough “alerts per file” available to record new cases found by the “alerts by name” system, you will receive a notification and will have up to one month to sign up for a premium account to monitor additional “alerts per file”.
